Going solar doesn’t have to be complicated. At MSI, we believe in keeping every project simple, transparent, and streamlined.
Every step of our process is designed to reduce delays, improve communication, and deliver consistent results.
Here’s a step-by-step look at how our team takes a solar project from first paperwork to PTO.

Project Intake
Every project begins with accuracy. Our account managers review all incoming deals to make sure each one is complete and fundable before anything moves forward.
We confirm:
- Signed contract and utility bill match proposal
- System size and design are realistic for the property
- All documents are ready to go
This early attention keeps projects clean and prevents rework later.
Site Survey
Once approved, our Site Survey team steps in. They visit the property to capture everything our engineers need to design an exact, build-ready system.
This includes:
- Roof condition and measurements
- Electrical panel photos and layout
- Shading and structural details
The survey is then uploaded (same day) so the Design team can begin immediately. Accurate data early means fewer redesigns and faster installs.
Design
Our Design team transforms survey data into a code-compliant system layout within one business day. Each design is reviewed internally to ensure accuracy before it ever reaches permitting.
This is where speed meets precision— a “design once, build once” philosophy that eliminates back-and-forth revisions and saves everyone time.
Permitting & Utility Interconnection
As soon as design is approved, our Permitting team registers the project with the local authority and submits all necessary documents to the utility for interconnection.
We track every submission, approval, and response in real time so that nothing falls through the cracks. If a permit is rejected, it’s fixed, re-submitted (often the same day).
Permitting and utility coordination are often the biggest bottlenecks in solar. We’ve made them predictable.
Scheduling
When permits and utility approvals are cleared, it’s time to schedule the install.
Our Scheduling team coordinates directly with the homeowner and sales rep in one thread, confirming install and material delivery dates.
Clear communication = no confusion.
Everyone knows the schedule, the scope, and what to expect before the crew ever arrives.

Installation
Installation days start early and run like clockwork. This is where everything comes together.
Crews confirm system layout with the homeowner before beginning, then complete the installation following MSI’s standards for quality and safety.
Throughout the day, our Field Manager checks in, ensuring the build matches the approved design. All photos, permits, and documents are uploaded before the crew leaves the site.
This creates full transparency from field to office.
Quality Control & Final Inspection
Before the project is inspected, our internal QC team reviews every photo, layout, and part number to ensure the job meets MSI’s standards.
Once cleared, our Inspection team schedules with the city or utility, typically within 5 business days. Most MSI jobs pass the inspection the first time— a result of consistent internal checks before scheduling.
PTO
After inspection approval, our Utility coordinator submits for final PTO.
We monitor the process closely and confirm once the homeowner is officially powered on.
Every install is carefully documented, ensuring transparency and long-term support well beyond PTO.
The Power of a Proven Process
A fast, transparent process doesn’t just move projects— it builds momentum.
From the first document check to the final PTO approval, every role is defined, every update tracked, every homeowner informed.
That’s how we keep projects predictable and partnerships strong.
Our process empowers partners, streamlines communication, and delivers results you can count on. From Intake to PTO, every project follows the same system: clear steps, consistent results, and zero guesswork.
That’s the MSI difference.
